NAUSHON REDUCES A WINDSOR RECORD. R. T. Wilsons Good Colt Runs Mile and Seventy Yards Over Canadian Track in 1:43. Detroit. Mich., .Tuly 20. Stirring contests were seen at Windsor this afternoon. The finishes in a majority of the races were close and there was more enthusiasm than oil any previous day of the meeting. The colors of Richard T. Wilson were twice carried to victory, Naushon whining the mile handicap, while Owanux beat a band of maideus. The attendance was again large and speculation exceedingly brisk, thirty-two layers cutting in. The present meeting at Windsor is unquestionably the most successful in the history of the course. The crowds have been larger and move layers have been in line than at any previous meeting in this section. Todavs feature was the Detroit Selling Stakes, for two-vear-olds. Albert Simons saddled two of the live starters in Moisant and Thirty Forty. The pair were held at prohibitive odds of 2 to 0. Moisant made all of her own pace, hut had to he hard ridden in the last sixteenth to stall off a challenge from Sister Florence, which closed with a great gust of speed. Naushoiii showed a good performance in winning his race. Jockey Glass took him back from the fastearlv pace and trailed the leaders until entering the homest retch, where he moved up with a rush. He assumed an easy lead at the furlong post and drew away into a six-lengths lead at tbeJin-ish. The mile and seventy yards were run in 1:T3J, which was two seconds faster than the previous track record for the distance. The race for Uanadiau-breds furnished a driving finish, in which Caper Sauce got up in the final stride to beat the favorite, Connnola, a head. The race had selling conditions and the winuer was boosted .00 by Sol Mintz, a Canadian. The horse was protected by his owner and bought in. Another runup came after Spriugmass won the fifth race, a dash of a mile. Spriugmass showed good speed, leading allthe way and whining by three lengths. Spriugmass was entered for ,000 and Sam Hil-dreth, who has become a regular out and out haltor man, carried the filly to 51,500 before he quit. Robert McKeever protected Springmass and bought her in. After the race Judge Price sent for him and asked for an explanation of the fillys improvement. Mr. McKeever displayed a bunch of losing tickets on her and said that he was as much put out as were the oflicials over Spriugmass previous efforts. In the closing dash the Carman sprinter Campeon displayed a high turn of speed, leading his field throughout and running the five and a half furlongs in 1:00, which was within one-fifth of a second of the track record. Fred Johnson has transferred the sprinter Sea Cliff to J. W. Mays care and the latter will handle the horse in future. It was Mr. Mays intention to ship his entire stable to Saratoga on Monday and ho had arranged to take with him the Heverwyck Stables Dantleld. He changed his plans on learning v or the failure of the Gittins bill in the Assembly at Alhanv this afternoon. Jockey F. Adams, who has lcen riding for Willie Martin "since the spring meeting at Norfolk, has left the hitters employ and has engaged himself to do the lightweight riding for J. E. Seagram. After Romp was beaten in the eighth race yesterday Sam Louis claimed him for 50. Louis Martine is making an effort to dispose of Grasmero and Ivabel with the ider of retiring as an owner. Top Note and Isabel Casse were formally transferred to John Powers this morning and the transaction was registered with the Canadian Racing Associations. Plato Glass sulked in his race today. lit? showed much speed until making the turn into the homo-stretch, but when Naushon challenged he pinned his ears back and slowed down perceptibly. The horse evidently does not fancy the Windsor track. He ran kindly in all of his races until he came here. His trainer will probably freshen him before sending liim to the post again. Jockev Glass is in great form here. He is doing most of the riding for the Wilson stable. He had winning mounts on Owanux and Naushon this afternoon.
