BUTTE TRACK IS AGAIN SLOW. Record Number of Layers in Lino Only Ono ito Succeeds in Scoring-. Rutlc. Mont.. August 7. Notwithstanding that the card was featureless, with some of the better class of horses participating in the racing the attendance here today was fully up to the average. The track was slow following a downpour yesterday and the public suffered extensive losses, as only one of their choices succeeded in getting down in front. The increasing attendance and heavy speculation in the ring encouraged additional layers to cut In, Jack Atkiu and W. Armstrong joining the ranks of the layers. This makes a total of eighteen, the largest number of books ever operated in the local ring. Altenberg died yesterday from lung fever contracted Saturday. Euclid Allard. a prominent California operator, arrived today from the east.
