NOTES OF THE TURF. Frank D. Weir has arrived at Gravcsend. He left his horses in Kentucky for the fall meetings. Some owners whose horses won purses at the recent Hawthorne meeting were obliged to wait for a financial settlement, it is understood, but all have now been paid it Is announced. J. L. McGinnis left Gravesend yesterday for Hamilton with his string, consisting of Rob Vernon, Cu Ron and Fair Miss. He also took along Footlights, and a two-year-old for Con Leiglilon. All are ready to race. William K. Vanderbilts Canadienne won the Prix I u Premier Pas at Deauville in France Sunday, and his Mirambo ran second iu the Prix De La Socicte De Encouragement, a race for three-year-olds at one mile and a half. The report from Louisville that I. Lcyde, an agent of the German army, had purchased Del Cruzador and Patriot for shipment abroad, proves incorrect. These horses are owned by N. Colton of Kansas and are training satisfactorily at Lexington for fall racing on the Kentucky tracks under the direction of T. Johnson. Jockey George Archibald has returned to his home at Oakland, Cal.. and will not ride again until next year, when he plans to go to Germany. He weighs l-S pounds and inability to get down to a reasonable riding weight led to the breaking off of his connection with R. F. Carman, who held the contract on him for this season. Carroll Davis, witli Judge Henderson, Rell Cliff. Eddie Mott and Margery Fleming; C. Mulholland witli John Days Colinet, General Marchmont and Kdmond Adams, and W. Lee with Ravaria, have arrived at Alan. Idaho, for the inaugural meeting of the Coeur dAIene Fair and Racing Association. Jockey Keogli accompanied trainer Mulholland, for Whom he rides. Others will ship to the Alan track immediately from Vancouver include W. Covington, T. Colliding, R. Walters, C. Lewis aud Garrity and Duulap.
