EASTERN HORSES STILL IN TRAINING. New York. August 7. Every tine morning at the Sheepshead Bay track a number of horses are working along, showing miles in 1:40 and several horses that could win races on any track are still kept going in the hope that if there is any racing hereabouts the coming fall they will be ready. Hilarious ami Sweep, in the Keoue stable, have been going along nicely for some time, and although lKth were on the ailing list last season, they re cently have been doing all that has been asked of them. Roth horses are in splendid condition. The sister to Maskotte Is working impressively right along. Tom Green, who is handling the Keene lot nt the Ray track, will also handle and break about twenty-live of the lot which Harry Payne Whitney bought from the Castleton Stud, as James Rowe will have bis hands full with at least seventy-five of them, to say nothing of the trouble in getting boys good enough to handle them. At Gravesend two promising ones are Shacklcton nnd Mongolian. They are at their best now. and Matt Allen, like the rest of the trainers, is keeping them going for fall racing.
