THOMAS WELSH TO HAVE BIG STRING. New York, August 23. In a letter received from Thomas Welsh, the well-known American trainer who is now in France attending the yearling sales, he says that he has picked up twenty likely-looking colts which he will handle next season. He also sent word for his foreman. Jerry Welsh, to be ready to leave for France about September 1 and to bring along six light boys not to weigh over 100 pounds and six first-class American rubbers. The foreman has the list of men made up which include those Welsh had in this country. Welsh, as soon as his foreman arrives in France, will leave for this country. Ho intends to increase the stable of twenty yearlings to fifty before he comes here. Thomas Monahan intends to keep his horses at Gravesend until he sees what will happen at Albany in September, and if things are not favorable he will ship the three. Textile, Paton and Rockfield. to France, and it is more than likely Thomas Welsh will have the handling of them over there. John Hynes has shipped Ethel Le Brume. Sir Evelyn and Handrunning to Baltimore for the United Hunts meeting. Paul Fox has gone to the same place with O Em, and so has William Keating with General MacGregor and Louise Welles. Rye has been presented to Thomas Meade, who will use the old campaigner on the stage in a racing play that is to be presented to the public soon.
