FANSHAWE. SALE YIELDS ,041. New York, September il. At the dispersal sale of the Silverbrook Stud of W. S. Fanshawe, at Shrewsbury. N. J., Saturday, a total of .,041 was obtained for thirty-one head. This shows an average of a little more than S227 a head for the nineteen bropdmares with sucklings and twelve yearlings. A reserve of ,50it was placed on Heno, tlu stallion of the farm, and as it was not reached he-was not sold. The star of the sale was the yearling Monmouth, a handsome dark bay colt by Ileno Mamena. Before the bidding commenced, auctioneer Bain announced that in addition to his engagements in the Futurity of 1012, lie had been liberally entered for English stakes. Among his English engagements "are the Prince of Wales Plate, Middle Iark Plate. New-Stakes of 1012. as well as the Two Thousand Guineas and the St. Lcger of 1013. With all these rich chances liefore him and his striking individuality, it was small wonder that he brought ,2K. The bidding was fairly lively and he was finally knocked down to Schwartz Bros. In addition to Monmouth, they also purchased the bay filly Reno, by Heno My Buela for 50. Mr. Kohler, who last year purchased Uncle, was a liberal buyer, and J. R. Marquette secured several bargains.
