ROY JUNIOR MAKES NEW RECORD. Spokane, Wash.. September 30. Koy Junior, well ridden bv jockey Gross, won the Klks Handicap this afternoon before an enormous crowd and made a new track record of 1:54 for one mile and an eighth. Gross rated him behind Ocean Queen and Jack Paine in the stretch, then took the lead and scored in easv fashion. Jack Paine, Fred Mulhol-land aud White Wool finished heads apart for second and third money. While favorites fared badly, the racing was form-ful enough, as the horses that won the different purses figured as contenders and some of them were greatly overlaid in the betting ring. Jeanette M., winuer of the Breeders Purse on d Friday, was presented to Mrs. M. D. Wright, and 9 will be used for breeding purposes. It is the intcn- tion of the Coeur dAlene Fair and Racing Association to give a number of these races from time to time, as many farmers in this vicinity are anxious to obtain thoroughbred stock for breeding purpKe5 Jockey Mondon has been reinstated to ride only for his contract employer, J. F. Moore. The scene of racing hereabouts will shift on Monday for one week to the half-mile track of the Spokane Interstate Fair Association In this city. Entries for the opening days racing at this track will not close until lomorrow morning. The Spokane program, provides for four races for thoroughbreds each day until Saturday, when only two will be carded. Robert Leighton, presiding judge at Coeur dAlene, will also supervise the racing here. Racing will be resumed at Coeur dAlene on October 9 and continue until October 2S.
