HAMILTON closed up much ground and would have been third in another stride. SHREVE ran well to the stretch and tired. FIRST AID finished gamely. LAW-TON WIGGINS began fast and raced SIR JOHN JOHNSON into subjection, then drew out into a good lead and held it to the end. LAHORE closed a big gap, but was tiring at the end and barely lasted long enough to save second place. STAR CHARTER closed a big gap in the last half and made a fast and game finish. PLATE GLASS was practically left at the post and had no chance. SIR JOHN JOHNSON ran a good race in going unfavorable to him. GUY FISHER was outpaced to the stretch, but finished fast. EAGLE BIRD showed the most early speed and set the pace to the stretch, but tired in the final drive. SEMI-QUAVER finished fast. KING AVONDALE ran well for a half and tired badly.
