BILLY VANDERVEER, on! slowly, closed up gradually and, saving ground on the stretch turn, same fast through the stretch and drew away easily in the last sixteenth. SHERWOOD, also off slowly, closed a great gap and finished with a rush. HALLACK was a forward and game contender all the way. but tired finally as if short. GARTH met with some early interference, but worked his way through and finished with a rush into a fast going second. BELLE NELSON ran well, but tired in the stretch drive. CHEEK soon moved into nearest pursuit, ran a good race and was easily best of the others. LAP OF LANGDEN began slowly and ran a dull lace. HOWARD SHEAN and NARNOC J. V. JR. showed early speed. RESTIGOUCHE sot the pace throughout and was ridden hard all the way, but held THEO COOK safe in the final drive. THEO COOK began slowly, but challenged gamely in the stretch and had the winner doing his best at the end. BEN LOYAL, off backwardly, saved ground on the home turn and was running fast at the fiuish. SEA CLIFF ran well. MEXOANA ran in closest pursuit for a half and quit in the stretch.
