RAKE NO LONGER A MAIDEN. Spokane. Wash., October 1C. After many trials. Rake, a colt that was highly tried as a yearlinn, managed today to get out of the maiden class. He leat a good lot with ease over the mile and a quarter route. Running kindly, he took the lead after leaving the half-mile post and was never headed thereafter. Ocean Queen and Edwin T. Fryer tin ished heads apart for .second money. Juan, winner of the second race, was bid up from 00 to 05 by J. M. Shilling, and was bought in. Joekevs Gross and McEwen were fined 5 each for rough riding in the second race. Jockey E. McEwen was suspended indefinitely for unsatisfactory riding.
