NOTES OF THE TURF. W. O. .Topliii has turned out Watch Me until next spring. Myron E. McIIenry is seriously ill at his old home in Geneseo. 111. The horses of Mrs. n. H. Selby will race at Juarez tho coming winter. Jockey Mentry Is accompanying E. G. Moync to Maryland from the far west. Tho layers of odds at Pimlico are big losers on the meeting. One clubhouse commissioner lost 22,000 in four days. R. Wilson has purchased from T. P. Hayes the two-year-old Peridot and the animal wll be used for cavalry purposes in the army service. Frank Kelly, who has leen connected witli tho stable of. R. 1 Carman, has left the employ of that prominent owner and will engage in business. Atha, a jumper owned by Lieut. L. C. Herkness. TJ. S. A., fell and broke his neck at the meeting of the Rose Tree Hunt Club, at Media, Pa., last week. Frank Nolan, owner of the Beverwyck Stable, has decided to call off the advertised sale of his horses at. Pimlico. Danflcld was sold privately a few days ago. Weber and Ward have purchased Gav Bird from P. Dunne, who now has only Butter Ball to dispose of. Pilain broke down recently and Mr. Dunne gave him away. . Watervale and Naushon, two good horses that have been on the shelf, are training satisfactorily at Pimlico and probably will be seen under colors this week. Royal Reports condition is not so serious as was feared right after the running of tho Kentucky En-duranco Stakes. Trainer Land may turn him out until spring, anyway. W. K. Vanderbilts Montrose II. won the Grap Criterlum at the Longehamps course in France Sunday. The stake was valued at ,000 and was for two-year-olds at one mile. Worths disappointing showing in tho Iroquoisc Handicap at Churchill Downs Saturday was mainly duet to tho fact that jockey Goose lost his stirrups during tho running of the race. There are so many thoroughbred horses at the Coeiir dAlene track that the stables erected for the work horses used on the grounds have been given over to them. The work horses arc being quartered in tents. Thg good plater Danfleld. which, finished third to linion Jack and Sylvestris at Ijouisvlllc Saturday, has arrived at Lexington and joined the string of trotters belonging to Georgo T. Ilaag, of Calgary, Alberta. Canada, to be shipped to the far northwest within a few days.
