BELMONT AND WHITNEY SALES ABROAD. While the Newmarket second October meeting was in progress quite a uumber of thoroughbreds, ranging from yearlings to horses in training, were sold at auction by Messrs. Tattersall. but nothing sensational occurred. Sales out of the ordinary in England are those which take place at Doncaster in September and at Newmarket in Decomber. Sales interesting on this side of the water were those of Mr. Beimonts consignment of Bock Sand yearlings and of a draft of horses in training from the stable of H. P. Whitney, the latter being sold to make room for yearlings arriving from this side. Mr. Belmonts yearlings brought fairly good prices, but not so tnucli as was hoped for, particulars of the sale being as follows: Rock Rib, b. c, by Rock Sand Octoroon; E. Howes 150 Total 0,925 Average ,002.50 The horses sold from the Whitney stable have nearly all won races in England and are likely to prove useful to their new owners. The top price of ,250 was paid for Now Castle, which sold for 0,000 in. this country as a yearling.
