NOTES OF THE TURF. H. D. Brown has personally warned C. R. Ellison away from the Laurel track. George Odoiu has again attached Swannanoa, suing E. C. Cowdin in the Kenton County. Ky., Circuit Court for .90 alleged to be diie him for training the filly. A. j. Wilson, the Laurel track superintendent, is busy arranging to take a force of mechanics to Havana, Cuba, to start work on the Almandares course. There are 300 box stalls at this plant now, but he proposes to build 900 more. He also will enlarge the grandstaud and have the course iu readiness for the 100 or more days racing, which is to open De cumber 15. The New Nursery Plate, a highwelght handicap of 400 sovereigns, for two-year-olds, distance five furlongs, was won at Newmarket, Eng., Wednesday, by J. R. Keenes two-year-old bay colt Outram, by Delhi Gingham. H. P. Whitneys chestnut colt by Hamburg -.Martha II. was second and AVItling third. In the Apprentice Plate of 107 sovereigns, for three-year-olds and upward, distance one mile, Mr. Whitneys Bashti ran a dead heat with E. Hultons four-year-old bay colt Marajtix, by Ajax -Mary Seaton, winner of several ihiiwrtant races this year.
