NOTES OF THE TURF. William Garth has leased the racing qualities of Feather Duster from Frederick Johnson. . In the Prix de Mczy, run at St. Cloud, in France, yesterday, W. K. Harry Payne Whitneys Iron Mask II. won the Qiieensberry Handicap of 000 sovereigns at the New-murkct Iloughtcm meeting in England Friday. Myron E. McHenry, who raced a string of thoroughbreds a few seasons ago and afterwards returned to be trotters, died Sunday at his home in Geneseo, HI. Death was due to an impoverished condition of the blood. S. O. Hildreth, accompanied by Mrs. Hlldreth, will sail for England tomorrow. His horses will follow on November 11 and will be acclimated and prepared for racing In that country next spring. Jockey C. II. Shilling will go along to ride them. The body of John Bennett, a former trainer known as "English Johnny" who died in destitute circumstances at St. Lukes Hospital recently, was given a Christian burial in Arlington cemetery yesterday by persons who came forward and furnished a fund to save the- mans remains from the potters field. R. II. Davis, who raced Master Robert. Mary Davis and other good horses with success a few seasons back, has gone into breeding on a small scale. Master Robert is now at Charles Holders Ramapo Farm in New Jersev. and Mr. Davis has decided to buy some marcs and send thorn to the farm. Already his mare Merise, in foal to Deutschland, is on her way from Walter B. Jennings California farm, bound for Ramapo, and with her is coming Burdette, her daughter, by Von Tromp. Again the public repression of legitimate sports, Instead of their- enforced purification, such as racing, boxing aiid wrestling, must have a tendency to elleminaney. It may creep on slowly, so slowly that the dweller in the country cannot see it, but an impartial foreigner can see here and there peculiar signs, which cause him to wonder how so great a people, so free a ieople, can stand for so much interference in their rights of amusing themselves according to their inclinations Marquis of Queens-bury in Chicago Tribune.
