SHOOTING STAR WINS MEXICAN DERBY. City of Mexico, Oct.. 30. President and Mrs. de la Barra and a large part wf the capitals fashionable element saw Francisco Rincon Gallardos Shooting Star, a daughter of Requital and Star Lily, win the Mexican Derby yesterday at the Condesa track. The added money of the government made the stake worth S,000, 0,000 of which went to the winner, making it the richest stake decided on the North American continent this season. The Derby was the feature of the opening of the seventeen-days fall meeting of the Jockey Club of Mexico, under the management of Col. M. J. Winn, of Louisville, Ky. The occasion was highly auspicious from all standpoints. M. Nelson had the mount on Shooting Star. Marques de Roman, the favorite, finished second.
