RACING RECORD OF JIM GAFFNEY. The most notable achievement of Jim Gaffnev, whose retirement to the stud has just been announced by A. O. Bianchi, was the winning of the Hopeful Stakes in 1007. As a two-year-old he gave great promise, hut troublesome legs prevented him trom racing up to that promise. Besides winning the Hopeful, he ran second to Fair Play in the Flask Stakes and second to the great Colin in the Grand T.nfon Hotel Stakes.
