NOTES OF THE TURF. Starter Richard Dwyer has gone to San Francisco to spend a portion of the winter. Owners of liorses that raced at Coeur dAlene arranged with the Spokane, Portland and Seattle railroad to handle a special train of six cars of horses and a tourist car for the accommodation of jockeys. The train loft Spokane Monday for Portland and will go from there to Juarez, Mexico. Miss Malaprop, a bay filly by Meddler Correction, owned -by Charles Carroll, won the Hindlip maiden plate of 100 sovereigns for two-year-olds, at the opening of the Birmingham Autumn meeting In England Monday. The Witty Girl filly was second and Golden .Note third. Eighteen horses started in the race, the distance of which was five furlongs straight. In accordance with a provision of the will of Capt. Samuel S. Brown, a well known financier and horseman, who died October 11, 1005, a decree of distribution of his estate, valued at ,478, 193. OS, has just been made at Pittsburgh, and the decree will be final unless an appeal Is taken within thirty days. A number of charitable bequests and remembrances to relatives wero made in the will, but the bulk of the estato was given to W. Harry Brown, a brother, and Lizzie B. Ward, a sister of the de- cedent. Captain Brown during his lifetime was a prominent figure on the race tracks of the country, having a big racing string and a breeding farm near Lexington, Ky.
