GARRY followed the leaders to the stretch turn, where he was taken to the outside and, finishing fast and resolutely, outstayed CALIPn in a hard drive. The latter ran well and saved ground all the way, but finished in the lumpy going. BREAKER BOY showed speed, but tired in the homestretch and probably waa short. NEW RIVER was always outpaced. NADZU began slowly, but moved up rapidly on the backstretch and finally outgamed HARVEY F. in a mild stretch drive and won going away. The latter took the lead quickly and set the pace under restraint for the first six furlongs, but was tiring after a game effort in the stretch. KITTERY set the early pace and, after being passed, was kept in the best going and, finishing gamely, just lasted long enough to withstand BES challenge. The latter ran forwardly and gamely and outstayed VESPER for second place. The latter had to buinpbis way through between KITTERY and BE in the last sixteenth and. with a clear course, would have won. ARANY ran into the lead on the turn, but tired in the final drive. RICHARD REED, in closest pursuit from the start, squeezed through next to the inside rail while rounding the far turn and, finishing with a rush, outgamed BEN LOYAL in a stretch drive and won going away. The latter tired after moving up with a rush at the furlong post. MEXOANA set a fast pace, but made a wide turn when entering the homestretch and tired in the last sixteenth. O. U. BUSTER ran well.
