JUAREZ BETTING CONCESSION RATIFIED. El Paso. Texas, November 2. There will be no question about betting at tbe Juarez race track continuing as long as the promoters wish. The Chihuahua Legislature has passed a statute legalizing the race track betting and keno gambling and amniling all other forms of gambliug concessions. The reason given was that the race track and keno gambling concessions were granted by the Federal authorities, and that the state government cannot revoke them. Mexico City, Mex., November 2. Col. M. J. Winn has given out a statement here to the effect that Governor Gonzales of Chihuahua must have been misquoted in the press dispatches sent out from El Paso regarding the cancellation of betting privileges at the Juarez track. The Jockey Club of Juarez was formally granted a concession, the terms of which cover the betting point, for a period of twenty years, -and the governor of Chihuahua has no power to set aside any concession which has been granted by the congress of the republic. Colonel Winn says that the horsemen in the United States need not feel at all uneasy, and declares that racing will be conducted at Juarez as heretofore, with betting, for a period of one hundred days, with the possibility of an extension.
