SHERWOOD began slowly, but gained steadily and, saving ground all the way, gamely outstayed MEXOANA for second place. MEXOANA made the pace to the last furlong and tired In the final drive. KITTERY. off forwardly, followed the pacemakers closely until rounding the far turn, where he moved up gamely and, passing SADIE SHAPIRO In the last sixteenth, won going away. The latter showed the most early speed in the going, but went wide on the stretch turn and, tiring, bumped the winner twice at the sixteenth post. MISS JOE outgamed MAXENTIUS in the final drive for third place and ran a fairly-good race. MAXENTIUS ran gamely, but tired in the stretch drive. The others were badly outpaced. NADZU closed a gap from a slow beginning and was gradually wearing the winner down at the end. EDWIN L. tired after moving into second place while rounding the far turn.
