YVONNE was sharply shut off right after the start but, rubbing over nest to the rail, gained steadily and, in a hard drive, outgamed JANIE WARE at the finish. JANIE WARE set the pace and finished gamely, only giving up the struggle in the final stride. McALAN ran under punishment all of the last three-eighths and was coming fast in the final hundred yards. CHAPULTEPEC easily outran QUARTERMASTER for tho first quarter and, drawing away into a long lead in the final furlong, -won pulled up. QUARTERMASTER showed early speed, but seemed unable to extend himself freely and was tiring fast at the end. FROG ran a good race and probably will do better later on. HENRY WALBANK followed the early pacemakers closely and took the lead at the eighth post, but was tiring rapidly nt the end. SEBAGO was a forward contender all the way and, finishing fast through the final hundred yards, almost got up to win. SPALDING eame very wide Into the stretch, but closed a gap and finished with a rush. INCISION ran a good half and then retired.
