RECALLS BID WELL DISAPPEARANCE. Louisville, Ky., December 5. The disappearance of W. E. BIdwell, former secretary of the Kentucky State Racing Commission, who dropped out of sight last summer, leaving a shortage in his accounts with the commission, has been recalled by a suit filed by Mrs. Edith G. Chapman, a widow, to prevent the transfer of twenty-five shares of Southern Pacific stock by a New York bank. Mrs. Chapman says that Mr. Bidwell came to her about a year ago with a story that he bad lost his purse containing several hundred dollars of the racing commissions money and that unless lie made It good he would be disgraced. She loaned him the .stock on which to borrow 00, she claims. Instead he has sold it and its transfer lias been called for, it is alleged.
