JIM BASEY IS AGAIN A WINNER. Joseph Schreibers Good Colt Wins Overnight Handicap at Juarez from Smart Opposition. Kl Paso, Tex., December IS. Before an extra large Sunday crowd, Jim Basey yesterday won the six-furlongs handicap at Juarez from Araseo and Pride of Lismore. Far in the rear during the first half mile, he made a sensational stretch effort and outgamed the leaders at the end. Pride of Lismore faiied to get away from the barrier as quickly as is his wont and It was sometime leforo he got to the front. He opened up quite a lead after leaving the half-mile post, but began to tire rapidly in the stretch and was first passed by Arasee, which in turn was caught by Jim Basey fifty feet from the finish. Barney Oldfield, the favorite for the first race, fell shortly after leaving the barrier, the trouble being caused by the action of Ormes, the Tider of Bushwhacker, in cutting across in front of him. The stewards immediately suspended Ormes for ten days for his rough work. J. II. Adams claimed Toy Boy out of the second race for 3-5.
