AGREEMENT NOT EENWED REPRESENTATIVES OF LOUISVILLE TRACKS DECIDE TO RACE INDEPENDENTLY. Conference Held Yesterday Fails to Settle Question of Dates for Meetings of 1912 at Churchill Downs and Douglas Park. Louisville, Ky., December .10. John Hachmelster, general manager for the Cella interests in racing here and at Latonia, was in conference today with General Manager Matt J. Winn of the New Louisville Jockey Club in regard to the contract now in force between the two associations. Some years ago, when the Cellas invaded Kentucky, they bought the Douglas Park track, installed a costly racing plant, thoroughly equipped the enclosure with stables, shed, grandstand, etc., and prepared to hold -regular meetings at the track. One or two were held when a friendly agreement was reached with the New Louisville Jockey Club whereby the two associations pooled their interests under the name of the Louisville. Racing Association. Charles F. Grainger was made president. Matt J. Winn, general manager and John Ilachmeister treasurer. During the period of the agreement all racing lias been held at Churchill Downs. It is understood that the agreement has expired and the conference between .Messrs. Winn and Ilachmeister looked toward its renewal. It was rumored from Mexico recently that the Cellas would pull out and race independently at Douglas Park, but tills was mere rumor. At todays meeting the arrangements for dates for 1012 for Louisville, Lexington and Latonia were discussed and the representatives of both parties to the local agreement agreed to operate their own plants during the ensuing year, but the question of dates remains unsettled. The dates are assigned by the Kentucky State Racing Commission and usually the tracks involved agree upon a schedule iu advance. The annual meeting of the New Louisville Jockey Club will be held January S, when there may bo further action on the question of renewing the agreement. Garrett Wilson, representing the Kentucky Association at Lexington, also attended todays conference.
