. . I * * THE LEADING AMERICAN TRAINERS OF 1911 + * W. B. Carson, by reason of exceptional success achieved at some of the less important meetings, heads the list of American trainers for 1911 in respect to t lie number of winners saddled, while S. C. Hildreth duplicated his record of 1910 by taking the honors so far as the amount of money won is concerned and also by finishing second in the item of winners saddled. Mr. Carsons record is seventy two winners and 116,200 -.von in stakes and purses, while Mr. Hildreth has sixty-seven winners and 0. 41s. to his credit. Next in order come William Garth, W. A. Burttschell, H. G. Bedwell. T. J. Henley and J. W. Parker, all of whom sent fifty or more winners to the post. Of these Messrs. Parker and Bedwell were third and fourth respectively in the previous year. F. Ernest, who headed the trainers list of 1910 by achieving marked suc-ceaa with the horses of It. F. Carman, did not follow his vocation during 1911. A. Ewing. who succeeded l.im as trainer of the Carman stable, stands eighth.
