ARRANGING BALTIMORE RACING DATES DATESBaltimore Baltimore Mil April C The Baltimore County Racing Commission shortly will assign dates for meetings to be held in the county this year The yearThe Jockey Club has assigned dates to the Mary ¬ land Jockey Club for u spring meeting beginning April 27 and closing May 15 and also for a fall meeting beginning October 30 and concluding No ¬ vember J The bill which passed the Legislature recently reduced the number of racing days in Baltimore County from seventyfive to seventy This will cause a curtailment of four days from the Maryland Jockey Clubs former meetings The allotment of dates does not look to be a perplexing matter matterThe The management of the United Hunts meeting at Pimlico has applied for May 28 30 and June 1 If the commission grants these dates there will be an opening for a tendays meeting at Electric Park beginning June 3 The usual meetings will be given at parksIt the various trotting parks It is the object of the managers of all the race courses to prevent a conflict of racing dates The Marlboro ami Electric Park managements will have to confer to prevent a conflict between these courses and this it is said will be done doneWhile While tlio Baltimore County Racing Commission composed of Redmond C Steuart Spalding L Jen ¬ kins and Frederick von Kapf has no jurisdiction over racing outside of Baltimore County it is said this body will endeavor to do all in its power to prevent conflicts of dates datesRacing Racing in the east will begin April 8 at Norfolk Pimlico follows immediately upon the close of the Virginia meeting Under the new racing law the Maryland Jockey Club will be allottcd twentysix days which will be divided into a spring and fall meeting of thirteen days each eachIn In all probability the meeting this spring will open April 27 and close May 15 Following upon the close at Pimlico will come a meeting at Laurel Under its charter Laurel was heretofore limited to the month of October for its racing operations but by the passing of the Bellis bill Anne Arundel County is put under a racing commission and II D Browns track instead of being held down to thirty days in the month of October will bo allowed to split its dates and race in the spring and fall fallFrom From the present outlook there will be a scarcity of horses this season The drastic laws against racing have put the breeders out of business pretty generally and there is little new stock coming in to take the place of the old A man who knows said yesterday that there are not fifty horses in the stables around New York that can be counted on to race this spring where in the old days there were hundreds hundredsThere There havo been 200 horses at Bcnning Of these nearly fifty are in William Garths stable Most of them are in fair form and will be ready for early racing The track at Bcnning has been deep and heavy end no fast moves have been possible over it but the trainers generally have given their charges a thorough course of s lpw work and the horses only need a few sharp moves on a good track to put them in racing condition conditionThis This week jwrt of the Beimiug contingent has been shipped to Norfolk NorfolkWilliam William Garth sent eighteen head to Jamestown in charge of Lewis Garth In the bunch are St AlK Trudo High Hat Tasteful Kentucky Colonel and Day Bell all and will be ready to race from the word go The real smart fellows say that Mr Garths junipers xvill be the one best bet at Norfolk although a good judge thinks that it would not do to overlook T Kodrocks Vilhalhi in th crosscountry events Busy and Rcybourn arc in fine condition McAfee will ride the Gartii jump ¬ ers at Jamestown while Schuttinger will have the mounts on the flat flatJames
