LOUISVILLE TO HAVE TWO BEAUTIFUL RACE COURSES Louisville Ky August 10 politicians have in certain sections of this country MHccoded in placing under the ban the racing of thoroughbreds the popularity of the pastime grows in Kentucky Never before has Kentucky racing litoii upon a mere solid basis At no time lias it enjoyed greater approval by the masses It is flour ¬ ishing under legal protection which insures perpe ¬ tuity for the sport and security for the public which otends its patronage more liberally than ever be ¬ cause the racing itself is of better quality and it is realized that the sport is conducted upon lines al ¬ together honest honestAssuredly Assuredly racing in this locality has never in the past been accorded the elaborate setting that it will have when the meetings open in Louisville this fall Following the thirteenday session at Lexington be ¬ ginning Saturday August SI and ending Saturday September 11 Douglas Park will open for eighteen days on Monday September li closing on Saturday October ii Churchill Downs nineday meeting starts on Monday October 7 concluding on Wednesday OctolKr 10 after which Latonla inaugurates its nineteenday meeting on Saturday October 1 end ¬ ing on Saturday November This embraces fifty nine days of racing on the Kentucky circuit with the closing date well up to that for the opening of winter racing at Juarez Mex MexAt At Douglas the north is a now paddock with fourteen stalls It is elevated and surrounded by a wall of concrete which can be used as a place of vantage by those who desiro to witness races from this part of the track Stretch ¬ ing in front and to the left is a grove of beautiful trees Under their shelter and on the spacious lawn tho racers may be saddled saddledManager Manager llachmeister who will return Monday from New York writes that he was pleased with his reception by eastern turfmen whom he solicited to participate in racing in Louisville LouisvilleI I received lin entries while in New York
