ROD AND GUN closed a big gap, but was tiring at the end and driving hard to outstav FORI MAX. The latter made up much ground in the last quarter and finished fast. SHANNON RIVER was much used in following the fast early pace and tired, but easily disposed of PROMOTER in tho last quarter. THE SPIRIT was a forward contender from the start and finished gamely, but tired and just lasted long enough to outstay MATER. The latter closed a big gap and finished fast. GALAXY set a fast pace and had a good lead when entering the homestretch, but a poorly ridden finish lost the race. ORTYX ran well, but was weakly ridden. HARVEST QUEEN" quit. The latter closed an Immense gap and finished fast. LITTLE EP quit after setting the early pace. SIR ALVESCOT raced Into the lead at the half and kept it to the last eighth, then quit badly. O. U.
