SARATOGA STAKES FILL WELL. New York. October 25. An encouraging sign for racing on the courses of this state next year is shown by the number of entries received by the Saratoga Association to the stakes that closed October 15. The number of nominators and the entries received almost equal the days when racing was in its glory. One hundred and forty-three entries were received for the United States and Grand Union Hotel Stakes; one hundred and thirty-five for the nopeful; ninety for the Spinaway, and fifty-six for the Grab Bag Handicap. In point of number these figures are tlatterlng. The Hopeful is a guaranteed stake of ,000. The value of each of the other stakes is ,000 added.
