The delegates discussed the question of the introduction of pari-niutuel machines for betting purposes. The matter was temporarily disposed of by deciding to make inquiries in the United States. That there will be a split in the Western Canada Racing Circuit in a few years, probably next year, seemed to be the opinion prevailing at the convention. While the difficulties for this year were overcome by a slight re-arrangement of dates as recommended by the special committee, the situation as at present is by far from satisfactory to all cities. Several suggestions were made for rearrangement, including one from Dr. Bell of Winnipeg, that smaller cities of the circuit unite. The dissatisfaction over dates is mostly felt in smaller cities.
