LONG SHOT YEAR IN ENGLISH RACING. Favorites have had a disastrous time of it this vear in the greater events of the English turf. The Two Thousand Guineas, Epsom Derby and Don-easier St. Leger all went to the rankest of outsiders, as did many others of the most important fixtures, so that altogether it has been as a year of distress and bewilderment to the turf prophets.
