RALPH LLOYD ran In close pursuit of ANAVRI to the stretch turn, then wore him down in the last quarter and was going away at the end. ANAVRI set the pace and tired when challenged after having saved ground all the way and met with no mishaps. J. H. HOUGHTON closed a big gap from a s.ow beginning into a gaining third. TOM HOLLAND also finished fast and close up. SHERLOCK HOLMES ran well to the stretch and quit. CHERRY SEED closed a gap and tired. CECIL, close up from the start, moved around the leaders on the turn out of the backstretch and tdiook off his opposition after a mild drive early in the final eighth to win going away. RIGnTEASY took he lead at once and showed the most speed for live-eighths, but gave way when challenged by the winner. AFTERGLOW closed a big gap and ran an excellent race. JOHN REARDON, running in suddenly improved form, was in closest pursuit of the pacemaker to the eighth post, then responded with a good burst of speed when called on in the last sixteenth and won going away. DARTWOUTH set a fast pace to the last eighth, but tired and just lasted long enough to outstay WORKING LAD. The latter ran on the outside of the leaders for the entire way and made a fast finish.
