PROMISING CONDITIONS AT CHARLESTON. Martin Natliansou, racing secretary of the Charleston Fair and Racing Association, writing from Charleston, announces that the first book of conditions for tlie Palmetto Park meeting scheduled to open December 1. will be ready for distribution in a day or two. The stake book is being compiled and will show an average far in excess of last seasons showing. The Palmetto Derbv, to be run Februarr 2S, will be a strong feature, Mr. Nathanson predicts. It has received 37 nominations, as against 17 last season. "Applications for stabling accommodations are so heavy," writes Mr. Nathanson, "that assignments have necessarily been chopped to the lowest possible space for each and everv string and, although we have 1,050 stalls, the accommodations are at i premium and late applications are being refused."
