BUILDING UP IN THE EAST OWNERS FUND TO FINANCE NINE VALUABLE STAKES SOON TO CLOSE. Good News for Horsemen in Announcement Just Made by Jockey Club Relative to Racing Plans for Next Season in New York State. Xew York, November 10. At a meeting of subscribers to the Owners Fund, which fund was created early in the year 1913 for tlie rehabilitation of racing in this state, held at the office of the Jockey club Saturday, it was decided to open eight stains lor 1914 to be financed by this fund, such stakis to close December 3. 1913, at the office of the .I..rkey flub. four of these stakes are for two-year-old.-; now yearlings and four for thrce-vcar-olds now two-yoarohls. Five of the stakes carrv ,300 added, and three a guaranteed value of ,000. It is estimated that the cost of these- stakes should be about 0,000 li the Owners Fund. Early in the vear 1914 other stakes, handicaps, etc., will be closed and luiauced by this tund. Thai these stakes will receive the hearty and liberal cooix-ration of all horsenieu goes without Baying, as when he racing outlook was darkest, PlKirtsmen of the city and vicinity of New York raised a fund which roughly aggregated 00,00 to promote the interests of racing in litis and 1014. These stakes are conditional along Hie lines for the genuine improvement of the breed of horses. The two-year old stakes are weight -for-age, with penalties and allowances. The three-year-old slakes arc under the same conditions, and range from one anile to :i mile and a half. A brief synopsis of these t takes is as follows: For two year-olds, ,500 added; live furlongs. For t,wo-year-olds, , 000 guaranteed; 5 1-2 furlongs. lor I wo year-olds, ,500 added; six furlongs. For two-year-olds, ,000 guaranteed: six furlongs. For ihrce-year olds, ,500 added; one mile. For three-year-olds, ,000 guaranteed; one mile and an eighth. lor three-year-olds, ,500 added; one mile and a Cliartcr. For three-year-olds, ,500 added; one mile and a half. The entrance fees are small and the stakes are arranged as best suited for all classes of owners. The stakes are designated as Stakes A., 15., C. 1.. K., I, G. and II., and will be donated to the associations racing under the jurisdiction of the Jockey Club in the State of Xew York during the year 1014, and all of such stakes are guaranteed and financed by the above Owners Fund. In addition to the above important stakes there lias been offered by this fund a weight-for-age rate, which will be tendered to the commission in charge or the Syracuse State Fair, to be held in September. No race for the year 1914 should he more attractive. It is in the nature of a premium for the best horse of the year. It is the intention of the State Fair management to devote six or more days to running races and this race will of course prove the stellar, attraction. It might well be known as the Champion Stakes. Its conditions follow: For three-year-olds and upward. ,000 added, by subscription of $."0 each, 0 additional if not declared by April 1, 1914, 50 additional to start: ,000 added, of which ,000 to second, 00 to third, the fourth horse to save his stakes. Weight-for age; one mile and a quarter.
