; THE WIND-UP OF PARIS RACING OF 1913. Concerning tbe close of tbe Hat racing season of 1913 over the great Paris tracks at Cbantilly and Longchamns. the Paris correspondent of London Sporting Life, in its issue of October 2S, said: "The Hat race season at Paris , was brought to a conclusion on Sunday, October 20. when the Prix du Pin, tbe Prix St. Firmin and the Handicap Limite were the attractions on the Loiigcliamps card. The Prix du Pin is a race for four-year-olds and upwards that have not won a 0,000 prize in tbe course of the year, but it only brought out live runners. The field Included Uoinagny, tbe horse that missed its engagement in the English Ccsare-witch, and be now bad to put up with second place to M. Guestiers Afgar, a colt by fJacobite, that beat him a short bead. Afgar is a moderate animal, that, after winning a small race at Pan last March, did nothing till he carried off the Prix de la Societe dEncouragement at Saint Vincent-de-Tyrosse, one ,f the small, provincial meetings-. Last Su.ndayw.eek he came on to Paris, and won the Prix de Royal-lieux from some second-rate animals, and if this form is correct, M. Fould was well advised in not sending ltomagny over for tbe Cesarewitch. for he would have suffered the same fate as Mistinguette. "The Prix Saint Firmin is a race for two-year-olds that have never run. It supplies an opportunity for backward juveniles, and for those which may have met with mishap in the course of training, to pick up ,000 towards their expenses before tbe end of tbe season. The race was won last year by Baron de Rothschilds Isard II., which has since distinguished himself in more important events, one of his successes being in the Grand Prix de Deau-ville. Ajax was another good horse that made his debut in the Prix Saint Firmin. The winner on Sunday was Hip, a colt by Le Saniaritain out of Paulette, belonging to M. D. Keiekian, who bought him as a yearling from bis breeder, the Comtesse Le Marois, for ,S20. The runner-up was Petrl-molle, a filly with a thoroughly English pedigree, being by Santo Strato out of Joke; she belongs to W. Flafman, who bought ber as a yearling for S4S0. Tills does not suggest that the class iu the race was particularly high on the present occasion. The Handicap Limite is confined to three-year-olds that have during tbe year neither won a race worth 0,000 nor run in a selling race. The acceptances were not numerous, but they included Sol Joels Lord Slavev, Mr. Flatnians Ignotus and Baron de Rothschilds Careless. Tbe latter, a good looking colt by Suns Souci II. out of My Mary, was made favorite, but be could only finish third, behind Ardeche and Vangoyen. The winner is a filly by Alrlie out of Amitie that bad won the Prix dAm-pbritite at Dieppe, this victory entitling her to top weight in the handicap."
