IRISH-BRED JUVENILE WINS AT D0RVAL. Shyness, Bought at Dublin Yea: ling Sale Last Fall, Carries Clyde Colors to Victory. Montreal, Owe., June 1-. -Shvncss, one of Ihe Irish-bred yearlings that Capt. W. I. TliHlln purchased at the Dublin fall sales last year for Thomas Clyde, showed a good performance at Dorval this afternoon in winning the St. Lawrence Stakes, a dash of rive furlongs for two year olds, to which ,000 was added. In her race today Shyness came from behind after making a wide turn into the homestretch and, finishing well. v. us going away at the end from the favorite, Aunt Josie. It was ladies day at the new course and a tremendous throng turned out. The attendance was by far the largest of the meeting and was in the nature of a forerunner of what may be expected tomorrow when the 0,000 International Derby will ii- run. The program was a well-balanced one and the finishes in a majority of the events were close enough to be oveiting. Well-backed horses won a majority of the races. 1ontefraet being the only long shot to finish in Iront. Aside from the stake, a race that called for maiden jockeys attracted most attention. There were eight starters in this race and Ihe favorite, Cisko. heat Klhi Qraae in a driving finish. J. Acton, who had the mount on Trovato, rode a good race, although In- only landed his mount in third position. Mergler. who weighs but fifty pounds, had the mount on Hosebtng IV. Several Derby candidates arrived from New York Ibis morning, among them Luke Mclatke. San Vega Mid Gainer. Tin- latter had a ear lo himself.
