HYDROPLANE swerved to the inside immediately after the start and caused MISS FIELDER and FAIR HELEN to pull up. then drew awav into a good lead, but was tiring at the end and just lasted long Eaoagh to win. Miss FIELDER refused to extend herself early, bul finally responded gamely under a hard drive and would have won in another stride. NAIAD followed OROTUND closely from the start and. saving ground on all turns, took the lead. but tired in the homestretch and. being put lo a drive when OROTUND challenged, just lasted long enough. OROTUND, slowing much speed, set a fast pace, bul came wide on the stretch turn and lost ground, then came again and just failed to get up. The latter was off slowly and closed a big gap. but tiled in the closing strides. TINKLE BELL followed in close contention to the eighth post, hut quit near the finish.
