HORSES IN INCREASED DEMAND. J Washington. D. C, October S. The increased demand in Europe for American horses presents an excellent opportunity to farmers of the United States, the department of agriculture announced today, it is stated that this demand may continue for a decade or longer, as when peace Is restored more Jiorses will be needed for farming. Onlv horses of high quality may Ik? profitably raised. Inferior animals are a drug on the market. Next to Russia, the United States has more horses than am- other Wintry and the two together possess 5S per cent of the worlds supply. It Is conservative! v estimated that 1,000.000 horses are now engaged in the war.
