JUMPERS GATHERING AT PIMLICO. Baltimore. Md., October 27. The arrival of a , carload of jumpers at Phulico removes all doubt as - to the success of the steeplechases during the coming . fall meeting, November 2-12. The prominent t arrivals included the veteran Gwyn Tompkins, one i of the deans of the profession. His string of f four includes Edward M. Weltis Weldship and 1 Juverence, both fit and ready to race. The regular stable jockey. J. Kermath. is in New York suffering from the effects of a fall in Canada and, consequently, will not be able to ride for some time, if ever again, and the services of that skillful colored rider. I. Gaddy. will probably be used. Tim Donohuo brought down a string of six from Piping Rock, where he had a good measure of success with II. W. Sages Indian Arrow and Tommy Wrights Baybrook. Tim Donohues old jumper. Malaga, at one time owned by J. K. Davis, is now bandied by James Johnson, and will start at Pimlico. The perennial Silas Veitch conies soon with J. F. Flanigans Jingo. Veitch also trains Fern Louise for Flaiilgan as well as Archibald Barklies Blan-kenbury, and C. R. Fleischinaiins Astute. As usual. J. E. Davis will be well represented in the cross-country branch of the sport. His Single Stick won the valuable Harbor Hill Cup Steeple-chase for three-year-olds at Piping Itock. This race, one of the most valuable steeplechases of the year, was worth ,S20 to the winner, liesidts a 10 silver cup. both money and plate presented by Clarence II. Mackay. The runner-up in this event, Miss Chambletts Chnpailero. is also at Pimlico. and both are named to go in the Llkrldge Steeplechase. The steeplechase will be the second event on each days program, so as to secure good light and permit schooling between the Hat races.
