POSSIBLY AN INTERNATIONAL FUTURITY. True to its record of fostering all that is best and most interesting in racing, the Coney Island Jockey Club still maintains the Futurity, its announcement of the Futurity of 1917. to close for nomination of mares January 2, 1915, being evidence of its continued solicitude for the welfare of a sport it can no longer carry on over its noble track at Sheepshead Bay. It is no. slight thing for an organization that is out of racing to do this, and it is to be expected that owners of broodmares will make manifest their appreciation of its unselfisu course of action by the one effective means in their power. There is a possibility of an international aspect of the Futurity now open in that the Whitney; Belmont. Sanford, Hitchcock. Duryea and Widener broodmares, now in England and France are eligible and have been mated with the most fashionable sires of the day abroad. The possibility rf a Futurity in which our native-bred youngsters may be called on to measure strides with scions of Spearmint, Chaucer, Rabelais. William the Third. Mailitenou and other sires of world-wide fame is fascinating.
