BIG CROWD OUT AT JUAREZ RACING IS RESUMED AT MEXICAN TRACK UNDER AUSPICIOUS CONDITIONS. Track Remains Heavy, but Sport Is Spirited aud Much Enthusiasm Is Manifested Hocnir Wins Handicap That Serves as Days Feature. El Paso. Tex., December 0. The race-going public this afternoon showed its appreciation of the sport provided at the Jockey Club Juarez course by a banner attendance when racing -was resumed after a four-day respite. Tlie sport was good, considering that the track was still heavy, although drying out. The crowd was almost as large as for the opening on Thanksgiving day and much enthusiasm marked the running of the races. All of the races were keenly contested and speculation was heavier than on any previous day of this meeting. Long shots and choices equally divided the card. The Cliapala Handicap, the feature race, a seven-furong dash, was won by Hocnir, from tlie stable of Mrs. J. Shilling, wife of ex-jockey Carroll II. Shilling. The horse received an excellent ride from jockey C. Gross, who displayed his skill in rating his mount to perfection. Gross won looking back at McCabe on Ringling at the finish. Long shots that scored on their first appearance were Rye Straw, at 8 to 1, and Judge Gkcens at 20 to 1. The stewards suspended jockey J. Acton on report of the starting judge. Charles Dwyer, for rough riding after tlie start of the first race. Ivor D. Bogan, manager of C. W. Clarks stable, is a late arrival from San Francisco. Jockeys J. Collins and P. Louder arrived this morning. The stable of R. J. Allison is expected later in the -week. For failing to accept a four-pound allowance, Amohalko has lost the last purse she won. The purse was protested by Riley and David, owners of Winifred D. The stewards sustained the protest and first money has been paid to Winifred D.
