STATISTICS OF IRISH PLAT RACING. The racing season in Ireland came to an end on Wednesday. November 11, at Tralee. While J. .T. Iark insou lias won first place hotli as owner and trainer, his son W. J. Parkinson, leads the riders, amateur as well as professional. W. Parkinson made his first appearance in the saddle at Mullin-gar in March, and commenced apspiciously hy steering a 20 to 1 winner In Feudalism, a faint-hearted four-year-old, which then won his maiden success. It was a stiff contest between -Parkinson, aud L. Brabazon for first place, and thelfohnur with a lead of two wins after Leopardstown had that advantage "halved" through Brabazon piloting a winner at Tralee on Tuesday.- The leading rider is only 17 or IS years old. and may not be able to ride at 110 pounds much longer, for he looks like growing and tilling out. W. Barrott leads the professionals with thirty-eight wins, and C. Barrett is second with thirty-one. F. .Morgan leads tin cross-country riders, and to his credit stands one of "the" riding feats of the season, in that at Downpatrick lie had seven mounts during the two days of the meeting, riding one winner- on the first day and all five winners 011 tlie second day. Witli thirty-seven winners of seventy-three races, value 1,910, J. .7. Parkinson is an easy first in the list of winning trainers. , This is the first season he lias held the lead, though with eighty-nine races won some ten years back, his stable made a record which remains unbeaten in Ireland. Mr. Parkinson has had a splendid season witli two-year-olds, the chief winner being his own colt. Offaly. whose four wins made 0,375. and with Mr. Corbellas St. Cuimin the stable won the Phoenix Plate, the richest two-year-old event in Ireland. Michael Dawson, whose training record is unique, for iu nine seasons he has only twice missed first place, conies second. His principal gains were 011 tlie flat, but he also wou a fair number of races over hurdles and fences. The best crosscountry horses in his stable are Posthor, Fast Brendan, Cathal. and Jerry M., while Tickler as a hurdler represents our best class. Tickler also won races on the Hat. and like all the breed is of all-round ability. .1. Hunter, from Conyiigham Lodge, Cur-ragh sent forth the champion two-year-old, Bal-laghtobin, an unbeaten youugster, and besides this one Hunter had eleven other juvenile winners, training In all twenty-two winning representatives. Mr. Arnatt, who manages tlie Clousilla stable for Captain Dewhurst. is tlie leading trainer of jumpers, though lie lias a few flat-racers also, one of which is Vartry Water, which won the Foal Stakes at Leopardstown luckily. . - With such a large number of races won as thirty-two It is not surprising to find Parkinson in the position of leading owner. Seventeen horses have secured that number of races, worth 2.54:1.75. The two and three-year-olds have been Parkinsons best winners, while the chief contributor to tne total is Offaly, with four wins amounting to 0, :!7.r. U. T. Patterson had only one runner In Ire-laud, hut he took our best flat race the Irisn Derhv with Land of Song, trained by Perss Mr. ir. Whitworth supports both flat and Irish National Hunt racing, aud under each code has had winners, live in number. Grehau had two winners in the two-year-old Dunhallow and the five-year-old Clonmeen. which ran twelve races and won seven. Captain Herbert Dixon had the misfortune to lose through death by lockjaw his good two-year-old Herodius, one of the five winners which won him ten races worth ,400. The best performers for Win. Dunne were the two-year-olds Lady Prim two races, ,000 and Rosevean one race, ,200, while of the total stakes won for P. Cullinau by his ten winning horses, ,G95 was contributed by Royal Haeklo II.; ,355 bv May Edgar, winner of the Irish Oaks; and 95 "by Silver Dart. Major Dixons winners were Ballycaddeu two races, Tenipledowney three races, Clan-care one race. Little Imp three races, and Kll-megin 0110 race, while tlie two scorers for Lord Declcs were Ballaghtobin and Nuptial Flight. Landrof" Songs win 0,200 in the Irish Derby accounts for all but something over ,000 of tlie aggregate amount won for Llanglbby. while the six-wins of Ballaghtobin. worth ,375 represent in value more than half the score won for Morganatic. So. too. with Captivation, tho two-year-old Offaly, winning all but ,733.75 of that sires total. Tre-donnis had thirteen winners of twenty-nine races, and. in point of indlvidnual .winners.
