GENERAL NEWS NOTES OF THE DAY. Plans for establishing a temporary government and conferences with leaders, both civil and mili-tarv, are occupving the time of Villa and Gutierrez at Mexico City. The intention is to instal Gutierrez and his provisional cabinet promptly in place of the temporary government set up by arrangement between the Zapatistas and the Villaistas. Then as soon as possible Gutierrez will give way to a provisional government headed by Dr. Miguel Sllva, former Maderista governor of the State of Michoa-enn and Minister of Public Instruction in the constitutionalists cabinet organized in August. It is understood that Silva desires to have Villa for his l .Minister of War. lint it is doubtful if Villa will accept the position. His personal preference is to remain in the field. The annual Oxford and Cambridge boat race probably will not be held in 1015, since many of the rowing men have been called away to the war. It is reported from Oxford that the university lias postponed all racing until after the war, and a -similar course lias been adopted at Cambridge. If there Is no race in 1015 it will he the first year that such has been the case since 1S54. The largest single contract probably ever signed in the United States for the purchase of horses has just been made by representatives of the Italian government. It calls for delivery within a short lime of 25.000 young, perfectly sound animals for cavalry and artillery service, at from 00 to ?2.i0 each. The purchase gives significance to the rumor Italy will he ready to enter the war before the end of the month. Blood dripping on a church carpet from the belfry tower terrified half a dozen young girls today into a panic stricken search which revealed the body of their chum, Margaret Millings, lying mutilated in the basement.
