• MUSKET AND ST. SIMON IN GERMANY. One of the most successful native-bred stallions in Germany is Fels, whose stock won four races out of seven at Hoppegarten recently. Bred by the Hcrren von Weinberg in 1903, Fels is by Hannibal out of the famous mare Festa dam in this country of Salute I. Sold to go to Ceruiany. Festa. a sister Desmond, produced various great winners for the Weinberg stable, inclusive of Festino, Fe.s. Fabula. etc. Two of the four winners by Fels were three-year-olds and the other two juveniles. Fels is by Hannibal, one of the best stallions that Cemiany has pr duced. The breeding of Hannibal is interesting, for he was got by Trachenberg by Filibustier out of Dirt Cheap out of Zama. a mare bred by the late Dowager Duchess of Montrose, by Hermit out of Sonsie Queen, by Musket. The mating of Hannibal with Festa therefore brought together the blood of Musket and St. Simon, a blend which has over and over again done big things in this country and also in Australia. — "Vigilant" in London Sportsman.
