WILHITES SUPERIOR RACE KNOCKED BACK AT THE START, BUT GETS UP TO WIN A FAST RUN MILE. Superl Defeats Lady James with Eass — Dolina First in a Hard Finish, with Brooks — Canapa, Captures a Race. El Paso, Tex., December 18. — The principal race at Juarez today as a selling handicap at one mile. Wilhite, carrying top weight of 120 pounds, won it in a hard drive with the lightly-weighted Star of Love. The talent would have none of Wilhite aad his odds soared, while Lackrose and Bonanza were backed down. Wilhite was squeezed back to last place right at the start, but made up ground on the outside of the others and won by a head in the fastest mile of the meeting to date. 1:38%. Lady James was warmly supported as the choice for the opening race but Superl beat her with ease. Dolina and Brooks fought it out in the two-year-old race. Both lost much ground by coming wide into the stretch and Dolina proved gamer at Pie end. Brooks was the favorite awl Guy threw awiy his chance of winning by his failure to go to the inner rail when Dolina ran wide. Canapa proved best of the mediocre band that ran in the third race. Jockey Haynes was suspended for five dayd for rough riding in the second race. Mose Goldhlatt has purchased the contract on the .apprentice rider It. Harry Plant, secretary of the Canadian Northwestern circuit, has joined the ranks of the regular visitors to the Juarez track.
