KING WORTH followed the leader closely until in the last eighth, then res onded gamely when called on and, wearing THE MASQCERADER down, got up to win in the final strides. THE MAS-QCERADER showed the most speed for the first half, then tired, but held on resolutely. GALLOP was always a forward contender and finished fast. KOOTENAY ran well and finished close up. RUTH STRICKLAND moved up rapidly while rounding the far turn and, taking the lead, hung on gamely under punishment and won going away. BENDEL came through fast on the inside and out-gamed MONOCACY for second place. The latter raced on the outside of the leaders all the way and pulled up lame. TREND finished fast and close up. FLITTERGOLD moved up rapidly while rounding the far turn and, saving ground when entering the homestretch, made a game finish, but could not quite get up J. J. LILLIS raced well, but tired in the last eighth. VERMONT was sharply cut off at the half-mile post when racing well, then finished fast. CARBIDE finished close up. ELKRIDGE was cut oft* on the far turn and was pulled up. SEBAGO had a rough race. TACTLESS ran well.
