AQUEDUCT STAKES TO CLOSE. On Thursday the valuable stakes recently opened for entries by the Queens Comity Jockey Club will clese. Horsemen who have any idea of racing in the east during the latter pari of June and the early part of July cannot afford to overlook these stakes. The list is headed by the popular Brooklyn Handicap, value ,000. one mile and an eighth., for three-year-old* and over. Other important events in tie- list are the ,500 Carter Handicap, the Brooklyn Derby, the Groat American Stakes of S5.00O, for two -year -old*: Tremont Stakes, also of ,000. for two-year-olds: the Hudson and the Clover, each of X2.500. for two-year-olds; and others ,,f lc**er value but all well worth winning. These stakes will close for entries with Fred R hberger. racing secretary. April 20.. It has already ! een announced that the overnight, purses for the Aqueduct meeting are to be increased to ยป0. 00 and 00. with 00 as the minimum value.
