CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. Christopher J. Fitzgerald lias been appointed steward to represent the Jockey Club at Havre de Grace. James Fitzsimmon* is exjiected at Havre de Grace from Xew York within a few days with a string of twenty hor*es. W. J. Dav.ii| it. Jr.. has purchased of Joseph M. Hul.l.ard the blown *tallioii Toy, 0, by J Inscribe Dill, iie-a. Edward McKrido ha* given second call on jockey laiiingtons services to J. O. Talliott during the Mar laud season. Jockey John Bullmau has been engaged by Dr. J. S. Tyree to ride King Xeptune in his Canadian stake engagements. George Inderhills mare Genua dam of Rack Bay. etc.. has a bay colt by Yon Tromp. and the mare will be mated again with Von Tromp. Jeorge W. Iingdon and Ed. Garrison were among the arrivals at Havre de Grace. Tin former came from Xew York and Garrison from Hot Springs. Pebbles, which won 4,325 for James Butler as a two-year-old. is taking his work in fine style at the Empire City track, and is expected by his owner to be one of this years great four-year-olds. H. C. Hallenbock will divide his stable, the eastern division, of which will continue to be trained by E. W. Heffner. while the western division will be handled by Charles II. Hughes. It is said several purchases of two-year-olds may be made shortly by Mr. Hallenbeck. At James Butlers East View Farm. Tarrytown. X. Y., the four-year-old bay mare Ambrosial foaled a bay colt, solid colored, with black points, sired by Out of Reach. Ambrosial was a two-year-old winner and sired by Voter, out of Anibrosine also dam of Election and Ambrose by Kingston. It is commonly reported that the controlling interest in Havre de Grace is now in the hands of James Butler, the major owner at Iiurel. It is said that Phil Dwyer bought out John Cavanaghs interest in Havre de Grace for 9,000. It is also common talk that there has been a difference in the Laurel Association, and that Irice McKinney has patted with his stock to James Butler. — Baltimore Xews. Among the Maryland juveniles that have not started, the most talked of ones are Cltimatum, a chestnut son of Iltimus and Speedmast. that W. P. Batch is training for Samuel Ross, and Sea Gull, a brown son of the Sea King and Toots, that Dr. B. E. Larrick is training for J. S. Tyree, also of Washington. Both colts are being pointed for the Pimiico Xursery and the Clabaugh Memorial, also to be run at Pimiico. The Havre de Grace people can have no complaint about ilieir opening day. A big crowd from Baltimore and Washington, combined with a strong contingent from Wilmington and Philadelphia, was on hand, and the accommodations of the plant were tested to their fullest. The mutuels were being tried out for the first time at the track, and they received a rousing patronage, and any doubts the management may have had about their success were dispelled before the afternoon was half over. The receipts of the association from the machines were probably double what they would have been with the Ixioks. — Parole in Baltimore Xews. James Rowe is expected before long at Havre de Grace with a shipment of the Harry Payne Whitney horses from Brookdale Farm in Xew Jersey. Several stake entries were made at Havre de Grace, but it is doubtful if the Whitney colors will be shown, the intention being to use the Havre de Grace course as a training ground. The Whitney two-year-old* that have been named in the stakes of the Harford Association are: Clean Ip. br. c. by Hamburg — Sweepaway: Willy Boy. br. g. by Will-onyx — Petticoat: Idle Hour. b. f. by Hamburg — Matinee: Kilts, br. f. by Broomstick — Flora Mac. and Christabel. b. f. by Hamburg — Pankhurst. The older horses engaged are Harmonicon and Emden.
