RAIN MARS AT LEXINGTON YERMILA WINS THE HINATA FOR TWO-YEAR-OLD FILLIES IN A CANTER. Changed Going Causes Disappointments — Brynlimah Runs Away from One Step — Jockey Goose Scores with Three Winners. Lexington. Ky.. May 2. — The Hinata Stakes, for two-year-old fillies, was the feature offering today at the Kentucky Association course and It furnished a victory for the Keene Brothers Jack Atkin — I ady Alicia filly, Yermila. which won in a common canter with jockey Goose easing her up in the last seventy yards. Jocular landed in second place and Believe Me Boys was third. The latter showed all the characteristics of her mother at the post and delayed the start by her fractious acting. She displayed a high order of si eed in pacemaking. but Yermila wore her down with ease in the stretch. The disappointments of the race were Auriga and May W. The latter, ridden by T. McTaggart. was expected to cut a sharp figure in the result, but seemingly disliked the going. Sweet Helen was caught in a jam soon after the start aud lost her rider, F. Cooper, and M. Garner, on Rosewood, also suffered a fall while at the post, when Rosewood reared and fell before the start. The net value of the stakes was ,455 and a handsome silver cup donated by Mrs. Clarence Le Bus. Continued rain during the night and early morning hours brought about changed track conditions, but the sun came out after the first race and dispelled the threatening clouds, accounting for a belated attendance of large proportions. Speculation suffered some on account of the changed going and disappointments were numerous. The failure of Sleeper and his bad showing in the second race was costly to the big operators. One Steps defeat in the Kingston Handicap by Brynlimah also proved a big blow to the talent. Brynlimah showed a fine performance, to win in the easy style in which he did. Jockey K. Goose was much in the limelight during the afternoon, landing Green Jones winner in the first two-y.-ar-old race aud following up that success with victories on Brynlimah and Yermila. Judge Allie Young of the Kentucky State Racing Commission was among the visitors. He appeared to have been much Improved by his lengthy stay at Hot Springs. Francis J. Pons will Rend his local string to join the others he owns tirut will race in Canada next summer. John Furlong is again training soundly and will be shipped with the consignment. T. C. McDowells Kings Danghter foaled a bay colt recently at Ashland farm by The Manager. Basseting. the dam of Waterblossom, foaled a brown coalt at the same place sired by Star Shoot or Hessian. He is the property of Charles Berry -man. Edward Corrigan is seeking to dispose of his broodmare Class, by Kingston which he has near Lexington.
