CURRENT NbTES OF THE TURF. Buskin is reported to be training satisfactorily at Gravesend. Roamer worked a mile in 1:4S over the Gravesend track a day or two ago. The stables of Foxhall P. Keene, J. L. McGinnis and A. L. Aste will remain at Gravesend for the present. The Ottawa Stable horses King K.. Gentlewoman and Waukeag, are expected at Woodbine from Havre de Grace. R. O. Miller will ship his string from Gravesend to Jamaica next Tuesday. Two imported horses, Heather Moon and Square Deal, are in this string. Samuel Ross is reported to have refused an offer of 5,000 from R. F. Carman for his crack two-year-old Ultimatum following his recent victory at Pimlico. John Whalen is about to transfer his stable from Gravesend to Jamaica, while George M. Odom ami Jule Garson will send their horses from the same track to Belmont Park. Great tales are told of the French -bred steeplechasers that will shortly arrive in America for J. K. Widener. When they join the string J. Howard Lewis is now training it will make the strongest collection of jumpers ever gathered by an American owner. John Ryan is in no particular hurry to get the four-year-old Cannonade to the races, and has not commenced to even gallop him yet this spring. He wintered in good health at Toronto. Mr. Ryan reports a colt foal by Live Wire — Miss Felix, the first produce of the latter well-known queen of the half-milers. Declarations from the Toronto Kings Plate were due Monday but in the absence of Secretary Eraser from Toronto they will not lie given out for a few-days. Due to a slight wrench through stepping in a, hole while being exercised Bert McDonald has decided that John Peel will not be. a starter in the race for the kings guineas. The Redbank Stable will name Garter for the steeplechase stakes to be run on the Canadian circuit this year, as well as those at Saratoga. Garter wintered in Montreal and never looked in better condition than he does this spring. lie is now stabled at Blue Bonnets, where he is being given regular work under the training of John J. Mc-Cafferty. Walter Jennings has engaged stable room at Gravesend for the stable of sixteen imported horses belonging to A. K. Macomber and the big stable which stands next to that recently occupied by James Mcl.oughlin and trainer R. E. Watkins has Nen assigned him. He will ship the Maeomlier thoroughbreds to Gravesend from Louisville immediately after the running of the Kentucky Derby ou May 13.
